Part 3 - God Can Heal Your Family’s Pain

Two Causes of Pain within Families:

Disrespect: Attitude of rebellion against Parents

Disobedience: Actions of rebellion against Parents

REALIZE there is HOPE for your family

1. God CARES about your pain more than you do

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God is the Father who is full of mercy.  And he is the God of all comfort.  He comforts us every time we have trouble so that we can comfort others when they have trouble.  We can comfort them with the same comfort that God gives us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

2. God CAN HEAL every wound

Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people

(Matthew 4:23).

If anyone belongs to Christ, then he is made new.  The old things have gone; everything is made new! (2 Corinthians 5:17).

REWRITE your role in your family relationships

1. DRAW near to God

When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed”

(Mark 5:27-28).

Come near to God, and God will come near to you.  You are sinners.  So clean sin out of your lives.  You are trying to follow God and the world at the same time (James 4:8).

2. Discover GOD’S PLAN for your life

“I know what I have planned for you,” says the Lord.  “I have good plans for you.  I don’t plan to hurt you.  I plan to give you hope and a good future”(Jeremiah 29:11).

3. DON’T give up

I ask the Father in his great glory to give you the power to be strong in spirit.  He will give you that strength through his Spirit . . . I pray that you can understand how wide and how long and how high and how deep that love is . . . Christ’s love is greater than any person can ever know (Ephesians 3:17-18).

No matter what your pain is:      

1. You are not alone

2. There is help available
